About the Journal

RHiME is an open access, peer-reviewed, online journal devoted to the Humanities in Health Professions Education.  It is published by the Medical Humanities Group, University College of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi, India. To reach out to authors and readers from around the world the journal has an international Advisory Board.

Where ‘Medical Education’ includes all aspects of teaching and learning medicine, the ‘Medical/Health humanities’ are an inter-disciplinary way of looking at learning and practice through the lens of art, drama, film, poetry, philosophy, theology, history, literature, anthropology, and other humanities disciplines.

Vision: to blend humanities with the sciences in health professions education

Mission: Health professions education is predominantly science-centric; the essential human touch is marginalized. Society needs providers who will respond sensitively to both the physical and the emotional needs of their patients; providers too should engage with patients with all their faculties – their minds, their hearts and their emotions. This will help them become people who are able not only to heal, but also to feel and think, explain and understand and cope. To this end, RHiME will strive to explore ways to mainstream humanitarian concepts, and interlink them with the sciences. The narratives, the prose, original research, poems, and the visual art content of the journal will attempt to remind of the significance of the humanities in medical education.

Aim: to encourage contributions from and discussion between teachers and students, providers and patients, the sick and their care-providers, and between health policy makers and policy users.

Scope The Editorial Board invites authors to submit original work relating to the use of the Humanities in health professions education and practice. The work may pertain to (but is not limited to) Innovations in Medical Education, History of Medicine, Narrative Medicine, Graphic Medicine, Disability Studies, and arts-based interventions in medical education and healing (Theater, Poetry, Literature, Films, music and Art, among others).
